Goji’s Universal VR headset explained
Thought VR was still out of reach? Goji’s headset lets you step into the world of VR, even if you’re on a budget…
Experience the immersive world of VR for less than £40 with Goji’s Universal headset.
It joins the likes of HTC Vive and Oculus Rift in bringing HR to the masses, but the low price tag means even more people can access virtual reality content from their living room.
Fancy trying it out for yourself? You can ask for a demo at Carphone Warehouse stores, where it’s being sold.
Put on the headset and explore your VR surroundings – with plenty of 360-degree videos and 3D games for you to view.
How does it work?
Like Google Cardboard and Samsung Gear VR, Goji works with your smartphone and specially created VR apps.
Simply insert your phone into the headset to get started. It’s held in place by the charging cable so you don’t need to worry about it falling out while you’re wearing it.
Connect it to your headphones to get lost in the virtual world, and use the magnetic controls to pause and play videos for hands-free viewing.
It’s also really comfortable to wear thanks to soft cushioning on the inside and a lightweight design.
Will it work with my phone? Goji works with most handsets, including iPhone and Android, although it’s best to check if it’ll work with yours before you buy.
What can you do with it?
Watch 360-degree videos on YouTube, or download 3D apps from the App Store or Google Play.
Thought VR was just a fad? Think again. More VR content is being made all the time – and we’re starting to see some of the ways we could use the tech in everyday life.
With Google Expeditions for instance, all you need is a smartphone and a Cardboard headset to embark on a virtual trip around the world.
While Samsung has made it so parents never have to miss their child’s bedtime again with the VR Stories app. It lets you share a virtual story, even if you can’t physically be there to read it to them.
Or fancy creating your own virtual reality films? That’s exactly what you can do with Samsung’s Gear 360 camera. Film 360-degree footage and stream it direct to your smartphone, ready for sharing with friends or on Facebook.
