Bloggers get #SeriousAboutBaking with Cake Boy and Currys!
We took 13 top food bloggers down to Cake Boy in Battersea for a fantastic evening of high class baking!
Last night, KitchenAid and Currys combined to create a fantastic evening of baking fun for 12 top food bloggers. We took them down to Cake Boy in Battersea to see master pattisier Eric Lanlard use a range of kitchen and baking appliances from KitchenAid to demonstrate how you can create several delicious, showstopping recipes in the comfort of your own kitchen.
Eric Lanlard (a.k.a. Cake Boy) is an award-winning baking star who has presented four television series on baking, and has produced a stunning afternoon tea menu for the Jumeirah Carlton Tower Hotel in Knightsbridge. Tuesday's event was held at Eric's London HQ and cookery school where he worked his magic and gave out a few baking tips for budding bakers!
The 12 bloggers were greeted with a glass of champagne on arrival before Eric introduced himself and the appliances he was using. Eric used a KitchenAid Artisan Stand Mixer and stylish Cordless Hand Blender to create a Red Velvet Cheesecake and a West Indian Chocolate Tart. He precisely decorated his creations with plenty of colour and also spilled his secrets on how to bake the perfect chocolate ganache!
Eric says that you should always servce ganache at room temperature and to fold in cold cream if it curdles. He also recommends keeping your cling film in the fridge to stop it from sticking, using good quality butter and always use bake stable food colouring to get the best results!
The impressed bloggers then got a chance to show off their abilities by decorating Red Velvet mini cakes with white chocolate frosting and hone their piping skills.
After the event each blogger got the chance to take home a signed copy of Eric's book Totally Chocolate: 60 Deliciously Seductive Recipes as a 9-Speed KitchenAid Hand Mixer.
We'd like to say thanks again to Eric, KitchenAid and to all of the bloggers who attended last night. We had loads of fun and hope you did too!
