Morphy Richards kettle

Retro

If your redesign has gone for something of a retro feel then a Morphy Richards kettle is a great pace to start and the the Morphy Richards Accents Pyramid Traditional Kettle could be just the one.  The design features an attractive pyramid style shape that operates cordlessly with a 360 degree pivotal base, making it highly practical, whilst a water gauge indicates the water level.  It's available in a whole host of colours including white, yellow, sage green, black, orange, cream and blue, as well as colours with a stainless steel finish (including classic polished stainless steel, copper, metallic plum and metallic red).

Although this kettle may be retro-looking, its design features are most certainly from the 21st century.  With a 1.5 litre capacity and 3000W power output, it has a rapid boiling function, whilst the traditional design is accentuated by the easy-fill spout and illuminated window.  A removable limescale filter ensures that the water you drink is fresh and clean.

Delonghi kettle

If it's still not to your taste then the Delonghi Icona Vintage Jug Kettle may be a good alternative.  Still very much in keeping with the retro feel, this vintage-inspired kettle will add a touch of refinement to your kitchen and simplify your life with its intelligent controls.  It includes a rapid boil element that can boil water in a matter of seconds and a large 1.7 litre capacity, reducing the need for repeated trips for refills.  At £64.99 this is a more expensive option than the Morphy Richards kettle, which comes in at £39.99, but if you're after something seriously stylish then this could be the one for you.

Breville Kettle

Quirky

If your kitchen has a quirky feel to it then the Breville Illumination Jug Kettle may be just the one you want to complete the look.  This stylish, functional kettle offers a quirky 'still hot' feature where the kettle illuminates in red showing that the temperature of the water is above 80 degrees Not only does this indicate that your water is still hot, it saves on potential re-boiling and looks rather cool all at the same time!

It also has a generous 1.7 litre capacity so you can make lots of hot drinks, while a large side water window with cup indicator helps you to fill your kettle accurately and stop water wasting.

Breville Kettle

Another model that may appeal is the Breville Jug Kettle - Spectra illuminated. The ultra-stylish design of this kettle ticks all of the quirky boxes through its ever changing illumination that is sure to add a colourful glow to your kitchen surface. Expect an ultra-fast boil, showcased through the unique modern design that changes from blue to red as it boils.

The capacity is a little smaller than other models, with a 1 litre water tank, however, it does have a large easy-view water window so you always know how much is left. This kettle uses Brita Maxtra cartridges for a 20% improvement of limescale reduction. The filter works to improve the taste, smell and appearance of your drinks. It filters as it boils and you are even reminded when the filter needs changing.  Both of these models offer all of the features you'll need, but also have fun design elements to really make them stand out in your quirkily designed kitchen.

Bosch Kettle

Modern

Looking for a kettle to match your all-new modern kitchen?  Well, Bosch may be the brand for you.  The Bosch Styline Jug kettle offers the latest functionality and is presented in a very stylish modern design.   Its 3000W rapid-boil element can heat up water quickly.  The 1.5 litre water capacity also reduces refill trips, while the Easy Fill stainless steel spout makes for easy filling up.

One of the Bosch kettle's best features is the four temperature control settings that let you adjust the temperature of the water; a real advantage when cooking or making desserts which require water to be at a particular temperature.

Russell Hobbs Kettle

If the distinctive styles of Bosch don't take your fancy then Russell Hobbs may be more appealing.  The Russell Hobbs Jug kettle in black glass, for example, sports a stunning black glass design with stainless steel accents.  Guaranteed to make an impact in any kitchen, this thoroughly modern kettle oozes both style and sophistication.

Aside from looking great, it's also a delight to use with a soft-touch handle, multi-directional 360 degree base and is ideal for use by both right and left handed people. The lid opens fully for effortless 1.7 litre filling and the powerful concealed element ensures the inside is flat for easy cleaning.  Very modern.

KitchenAid Kettle

Intelligent/Futuristic

Don't laugh at us for this one.  Intelligent kettles are a type of kettle that uses advanced technology and smart design that would not look out of place in a kitchen of the future.  The Kitchenaid Artisan Jug kettle could be classed as an 'intelligent' kettle for example.

With an internal LED indicator and audio alert that makes you aware as to when the water has finished boiling, which won't take long thanks to the concealed element that helps to channel 3000W of power, it's no wonder it's classed as a 'clever kettle'.  When it comes to setting the temperature, you're in complete control; just select a temperature, ranging from 50-100°C, by using a simple slide button which allows you to easily adjust the kettle to your required setting.

With such close control over the temperature you can make hot drinks exactly to your taste. It's recommended that coffee is made with water at 95°C, white tea at 70°C and green tea at 80°C. Experiment with this feature and transform the hot drinks you make at home.  Now if that isn't intelligent, we don't know what is!
