Meet -julie3

We caught up with the lovely Julie from our Thurrock stall, who is our in-house kitchen appliances expert. Whether you're looking to kick-start your day with a freshly brewed coffee or daily detox with a fresh fruit smoothie, Julie is the lady with all the answers.

Which espresso machine would you recommend to caffeine junkies who have less than 20 minutes to get ready in the morning?

It would have to be the MagiMix Nspresso Citiz. It takes less than three minutes to make a delicious cup of hot coffee - so you can set it to go, froth your milk whilst it's brewing and then be out of the door! The machine comes with its own milk frother and can make a wide range of coffees to suit your mood (including espresso, lungo, cappuccino, latte, and frappuccinos!).

Healthy eats and sweet treats…which piece of kitchen kit would you recommend to parents who need to feed their hungry brood?

The Delonghi Multifryer is the perfect option for parents who need some inspiration in the kitchen. The fryer can cook fresh chips in just 14ml of oil and frozen chips with no oil at all! It's really healthy and extremely versatile. You can cook lots of different types of meals for all the family in there - even risotto, stew, fish, pies, pizza and chicken! I love using it for cooking fish and chips; it makes them crispy on the outside and moist on the inside.

I'd really recommend this to parents who are looking to make a different healthy every day of the week.

A gym bunny comes to the store looking for a new culinary weapon to aid their healthy eating diet - what do you recommend?

Obviously, it would have to be the Nutribullet. It comes with two cup sizes (380ml and 680ml) so you can plan ahead or share with your family. The great thing about the Nutribullet is the fact that it's extremely powerful! The blades can break down seeds and stems, unlike some other juicers - as well as crushing ice.

What's your favourite kitchen appliance for cutting corners and saving time?

The MagixMix Le Mini Plus is a great all-rounder, thanks to its large bowl size, whilst being surprisingly small and compact! The liquidiser means you can make smoothies, but it can also whisk eggs, press citrus, as well as slicing and dicing.  I love using The MagixMix for making soup, especially now the weather is getting colder!

What's your go-to kitchen tool when channelling your inner star baker?

Definitely the KitchenAid Stand Mixer. It comes with three attachments; one is a dough hook which is great for making bread. Then there's a whisk and a flat beater for cakes.

I love the fact it comes with a pouring shield, which prevents splashing - meaning less mess. It also has a direct drive - which means it's extremely powerful, long-lasting, quick and quiet.  It does all the hard work in half the time!

Where's your favourite place to grab something sweet in Thurrock?

There's a Starbucks in-store!

What did you think of this year's GBBO winner?!

I really thought Richard would win, but all three have been fantastic. Nancy had been so consistent and has so much knowledge. She always doubted herself and was self-deprecating but then everything always came out perfectly!

Do you have any of your own recipe tips?

I'm half-Italian, and I love making my own pasta and sauces. Lasagne is my favourite, both the cooking and the eating of it! My top tip when it comes to sauces (like a ragu) would be to cook it the day before and then store. This was sauce becomes far more flavourful!
