Some foods are particularly dangerous for us simply because they are prepared using a lot of fat. Deep fryers such as the Tefal ActiFry Plus can radically change our lifestyle and eating habits by helping us cook healthy and tasty food in a matter of minutes. In the past, deep fryers used large amounts of oil in which food was submerged, but the new low fat fryer technology enables us to cook up to 1.5 kg of flavoursome, crispy chips with as little as one spoon of oil.

Unlike other similar products, the Tefal air fryer stirs the food while cooking it, thus allowing the hot air to make contact with all the surfaces of the ingredients. After putting the ingredients in the circular pan, you only have to add a little fat, turn it on, set the timer and do something else while the food is cooking. Assuming that some of the ingredients need to cook less than others, you have the option of adding them later to the pan.

Since the Tefal air fryer stirs the food, it goes without saying that you cannot cook large portions of meat or whole potatoes. Still, that does not mean that all you can prepare using these small kitchen appliances are chips. Stir-fries, stews and curries will turn out equally fine, as long as you respect the maximal quantity and do not add more fat than needed. Besides, chips from the freezer are typically pre-fried, which means that they already include some fat, which makes putting additional oil unnecessary.

Other deep fryers might look better and cook food much quicker than the Tefal ActiFry, but there are not the main things to look for in such small kitchen apps. The Tefal air fryer still produces excellent food, and the automatic rotation of the ingredients ensures that foods are cooked evenly. The new low-fat fryer technology makes use of superheated air to prepare meals that would traditionally be submerged in oil baths. Tefal implemented a patented hot air system in its products, but since is not the only manufacturer of air fryers, we'll have to assume that the competition took a different approach.

The Tefal air fryer can cook 1kg of chips in 35 minutes. This duration includes the time necessary for the appliance to heat up, and considering that the chips are prepared at 178 degrees Celsius with just a bit of fat, they end up much healthier and tastier than when cooked traditionally.

If you are not happy with the Tefal AirFry Plus' 1.2kg capacity, there is always the 1.5 kg TEFAL Actifry AH900015. At £159.99, this is £40 more expensive than the AirFry Plus, but the extra capacity justifies the price difference. Both models come with a recipe book and a spoon for measuring the oil. Some parts of the Tefal air fryer are dishwasher safe, but you need to consult the manual, as they might differ from one model to another. Additional Actifry recipes are available on Tefal's YouTube channel.

While already an excellent kitchen appliance, the Tefal AirFry will surely be improved over the years. The manufacturer might include additional features or might decrease the time needed for cooking, but one thing will remain unchanged: the fantastic taste of the food cooked using the Tefal air fryer.
