FRIENDSTALKING

The remote will make its official debut at CES in Las Vegas in January, but the electronics giant has whetted our appetites with a few details.

The latest update to the revolutionary remote will bring voice recognition technology to the fore.
Designed to work with LG's smart TVs, the new remote is said to be sensitive enough to recognise commands from everyday conversational speech.

Likely to be welcomed by sofa surfers across the globe, it'll allow us to access our favourite YouTube videos by merely asking the TV. But it's not all about the chat.

You can also change channel by rolling the controller's wheel, or by moving it in a Wii-like fashion. And of course, there are also the trusty buttons for the purists out there.

Havis Kwon, president and CEO of the LG Electronics Home Entertainment Company, said: "Building on an already impressive feature set, the latest version boasts accurate language recognition and its gesture, wheel and point control options makes the Magic Remote stand out amongst its competition as a truly intuitive device."

For those keen to hear more about the Magic Remote, CES kicks off on Jan 8 and we'll be there to give you the lowdown.
