We take our tablet computers everywhere these days and that now includes holidays abroad for many people, according to latest research.
A study carried out on behalf of Thomas Cook found the average family now takes five mobile devices on their holidays, with all families surveyed taking an average of one tablet overseas.
The poll of 2,000 people also found nearly one in three children takes a mobile device on their holidays.
With so many tablets and smartphones travelling with us, it's no surprise hotel Wi-Fi is considered a holiday essential by many. A third of those polled said wireless broadband was 'vital' or 'important' when it came to choosing their resort.
But which tablets are most taking our fancy for our overseas jaunts? Well, the survey found the iPad was most popular, with the Kindle Fire, Samsung Galaxy Tablet and Google Nexus 7 coming close behind. The iPad mini rounded off the top five, and the firm's appeal was underpinned by the fact each family polled had an average of one Apple device holidaying with them.
So why are tablets and Wi-Fi becoming as essential to our holidays as sun cream and shades? The survey found one in three people want to keep connected with Facebook and Twitter, while a fifth are sneakily checking work emails from the beach.
