EcoChallenge energy saving tips [competition winners]
We set our Facebook community the challenge of showing us their handy and inventive ways of saving energy in our EcoChallenge contest to celebrate the launch of Samsung's new Smart, energy saving home appliances.
Our winners pinched their other half's onesie, played Scrabble by candlelight and even hugged a cow, all in the name of saving energy. So here they are in all their glory:
"...who needs electricity and a TV when you have candlelit Scrabble to keep you entertained?" (Di Coke, Nottingham)
"Keeping warm and snug on the cows!" (Kate Weston, Sandbach)
"We are a onesie family! To save on gas heating bills, we all dress up in onesies for our Friday movie night! Or whenever it gets chilly!" (Michaela Jay Williams, Paignton)
"A rabbit uses less energy than a lawn mower :D" (Clare Leahy, Winkleigh)
"I steal the other half's onesie to save on heating" (Rory Campion, Basingstoke)
"We do all the normal things to save energy, like turn off lights, only boil what you need. We have very expensive heating oil, so to save ourselves money. Every time we use the log burning stove, we put on a kettle when its boiled we can use it for drinks, so we don't have to boil the kettle. We put what we don't use into flasks. We use the flasks throughout the next day for washing, hot drinks, cooking. Saves using the heating oil." (Chevaune Stanley, Elgin)
Well done to our winners and to all of our entrants - who knew there were so many different, and barmy, ways to save energy.
