Philips PicoPix

Claire from The Jazz Pad went down to the Philips stand to take a look for us and she was highly impressed with the picture quality and size of the  Philips PicoPix PPX3610?. This diminuitive projector is smaller than a book, and incredibly light, but it still packs a punch when it comes to quality with a steady, unpixellated picture.

Claire told us: "It's incredible how these small gadgets might one day take over from the conventional TV market, and I for one would love that.  I got chatting to Jeff, one of the marketing guys at Philips, and he kindly let me take a PPX3610? back home with me to  trial for a weekThe boyfriend is already smitten (I can see Fifa in his eyes) and I'll be testing the projector out properly for a thorough review soon.  Blogger sleepover and cinema night anyone?"

Price: £349.99

Perfect for: Setting up a home cinema

Philips PicoPix

Billed as "the original reverse leg stills" - these look like something straight of science fiction (and the fact that something very similar looking recently featured in sci-fi fantasy film Avatar really compounds this!).  Area 51 Digilegs allow the wearer to achieve the successful transformation of their legs into the hind quarters of a 'digitigrade' animal - think the aliens in Ridley Scott's classic sci-fi franchise.  Geared towards professional performers and character designers, it promises a whole new world of character/creature design. Ali Cohen took a look at the Digilegs stand for us, and you can see his thoughts in the video below!

Price: £599

Perfect for: Sci-fi / Cosplay fans

Designed to look just like the popular smartphone from Apple, the Red5 iShaver is billed as a whole new discovery in the world of bathroom technology.  This slim line portable shaver is a great little innovation that is not only cool to look at but really practical too - plug it in to any USB port for instant recharging.  It also features a white gloss case and ultra-thin net foil with floating blades for a close, comfortable shave.  A bit of a novelty?  Yes, but also an ideal Father's Day gift!

Price: £14.95

Perfect for: Dads!

Boogie Board

A cross between an iPad and a Kindle, the Boogie Board is an LCD eWriter that is marketed as "the tree-friendly alternative to paper".  The makers claim that the use of just one Boogie Board eWriter will save over 50,000 sheets of paper over the course of its lifetime, so you can put your eco conscious hat on if you start using one.  We can't help but think that this has something of the Etch A Sketch drawing toy about it, but it is indeed a clever idea - despite their popularity tablets and smartphones haven't replaced paper, whereas this just might.  It's also been recognised as a useful aid in helping autistic children with their sensory motor development.

Price: £14.99

Perfect for: Eco warriors

Parrot Zik Headphones

Parrot Zik headphones

The personal audio market is a crowded one and there are an awful lot of very high quality headphones to choose from.  However, this set stand apart thanks to their touch control technology.  Parrot Zik Noise Cancelling Headphones are fitted with an ultra-intuitive touch control panel on the right headphone, which when connected via Bluetooth, allows you to slide your finger vertically to adjust the volume and horizontally to skip to the next track. Parrot has developed a complete movement recognition algorithm that is designed to be simple and intuitive for the user.  They also have excellent noise cancellation technology, which eliminates up to 98% of ambient noise.
