You might not be too familiar with the Oppo name, but the Chinese phone maker is already one of the top five smartphone brands in the world. And it’s just unveiled a spectacular new handset - the Reno2. If you want a phone featuring the latest camera tech at a reasonable price, it could be the one for you.

Oppo 2 key features:

  • Sleek and seamless design with 3D curved glass body
  • Notchless and borderless 6.5-inch AMOLED display
  • Feature-packed quad-lens camera includes Night Mode
  • 4,000mAh battery lasts all day and recharges in under 1.5 hours

The Reno2 really looks the part. The front is all-screen, with no unsightly notches or cameras to interrupt your viewing. The rear is even more striking, thanks to the ‘OPPO DESIGNED FOR RENO’ message outlined in a gleaming blue effect. Colours move and change with the light, an effect Oppo says is: “almost like the deep blue sea.”

A big, bright and colourful display

Oppo described the 6.5-inch AMOLED display as “taking things to the extreme in terms of clarity and brightness.” It adapts to different lighting conditions, so if you’re out in the sun you won’t need to hide in shade to see what’s happening on screen.

A feature-packed quad lens camera

The Reno2’s quad lens camera is made up of a 48MP (wide) + 13MP (telephoto) + 8MP (ultrawide) + 2MP (monochrome) lens.  Oppo says the camera is: “prepared for any shot you can dream up – near or far, moving or still, day or night. The only limit is your imagination.”

The ultrawide 8mp is perfect for landscape shots, and will help you fit more detail into your shot. For far-off subjects, there’s a 5x Hybrid Zoom and 20x Digital Zoom. And if you want to get right up close to something, there’s ultra macro mode. It lets you shoot as close as 2.5cm and capture details that the eye can’t see, down to a single eye-lash.

Night Mode also looks fantastic, and is capable of capturing well-lit images even when it’s too dark to see anything in real life.

Smooth on the move videos

The Ultra Steady Video feature has been designed to help you shoot smooth and clear video – even in shaky conditions, and when you’re on the move.

Another great-sounding video feature is wind noise reduction. According to Oppo this: “drowns out the background noise in videos by focusing on sounds coming from in front of the camera, and cutting out sounds coming from other directions.”

Pop-up selfie camera

Thinking of taking a selfie? Then just was till you see the Reno2’s 16MP pop-out selfie camera. It smoothly slides out into a ‘shark-fin’ shape when it’s being used. This means there’s no camera hole or notch interrupting the Reno2’s 6.4-inch display, so it’s much more than just a cool gimmick.

In fact, it’s the world’s first pop-up camera with bokeh effect video. So if you’re filming yourself for a YouTube video, you’ll be able to blur the background for a pro-quality look and feel.

Powerful performance and impressive battery life

The Reno2 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G processor backed up with 8GB RAM, which gives you the power to multi-task and use intensive apps without a hint of lag or stutter. It also has the largest battery of the Reno series. Weighing in at 4,000mAh, it gives you enough juice to enjoy up to 8 hours of continuous gaming, or up to 13 hours of continuous video playback.

If you’d like to make the Oppo Reno2 your next handset, what are you waiting for? It’s available from Currys right now.
