New Smart camera from Nest protects your home

The new Smart technology from Nest makes taking care of your home even more simple...

Smart technology is becoming more and more common in our every day lives, from simple fitness bands that track your exercise levels to wireless speakers that let you stream music around your house at the touch of a button.

Nest’s range of products are slightly different in that they are actually for your home and take care of everything from controlling your heating to helping you keep an eye on security.

Nest Learning Thermostat

The Nest Learning Thermostat lets you take control of your heating, no matter where you are. Simply adjust the temperature using the app on your smartphone while you’re out for a walk and come back to a house that’s already at the perfect temperature.

The thermostat learns your heating preferences over time, and will automatically adjust the temperature for different times of day. It’ll even recognise when you’re away and turn the heating down until you return.

Nest Cam

With the Nest Cam, you can keep an eye on your home when you’re away. You can stream images and audio from the camera live to your smartphone or tablet, and it’ll send you alerts if it detects movement or sound. Video can be recorded, and the camera has built-in night vision so you can still see what’s going on when it’s dark.

You can also use the camera as a baby monitor, and it has a built-in speaker that lets you speak or sing to your child when you’re not in the room.

Nest Protect

Nest Protect adds an extra layer of safety to your home. This sensor detects smoke or carbon monoxide and alerts you straight away by playing an alarm and sending a message to your phone. You can silence the alarm from your phone, and you can set the Protect to emit a glow the lets you see just enough to move about at night without turning the lights on and disturbing everyone.

The sensor should last for up to ten years and, to ensure you’re always safe, the Protect performs over 400 checks on itself a day, letting you know straight away if there’s something wrong or the battery is low.
