Celebrating women in tech with Dyson

06 Jul 2016

Here at Currys, we’re crazy for cutting-edge technology and can’t wait to see what the next big development is. From the Oculus Rift, to the HTC Vive and the Dyson Hairdryer, 2016 has already seen some awesome additions to the tech industry – and we’re only just halfway through the year!

Currys, in association with Dyson, are hosting an extra-special event to mark National Women in Engineering Day (23rd June 2016). We’ll be presenting a day of technology filled fun at the Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester on 6th August 2016.

Recent organisations such as the STEMettes have shown that while there’s a ton of cool technology being released, there is a noticeable lack of ladies working in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM). Diversity of thought in any industry leads to innovation, which means we could be getting even better technology if girls were getting involved too.

So to laud the ladies that are already involved and show women the world-over that STEM subjects can be interesting, we’ll be bringing in a female engineer to talk with bloggers and their kids about the technology behind some of Dyson’s most sophisticated products. Not only that, but they’ll be set technological challenges and get a group tour of the museum!

Check back in the next month to see news, photos and more from the day and in the meantime, you can take a look at the Dyson range, and get familiar with the specific products that our guests will be getting the low down on at the event.
