If you're up to date with the latest eco-trends, you may have heard of a new fad called upcycling. Essentially, it's a really fun way of converting unwanted items into new and usable objects for your home. It's cheap as chips and it's great for the environment.
Just this weekend, we invited 15 bloggers to get in on the fun with our very own creative upcycling workshop. Held at The Old School Club in Battersea, London. The event was an arts and crafts fest with an unexpected, eco-friendly twist.
Drumming up some art
We gave each blogger an old washing machine drum to have fun with. And, with help from upcycling experts, they learned how to transform the cast-off into a stylish household product.
Some of the items fashioned included chic interior lighting, minimalist footstools, colourful embroidered drums and decorative side tables.
Our bloggers were wowed by all the different uses for their old washing machines and washer dryers. The best part was that their new furniture cost next to nothing.
One lucky blogger will even win a brand new Miele washing machine. The judges will decide the best creation of the day.
The event certainly created a buzz and our attendees were quick to share what a fab time they'd had, via social media. Check out the #upcyclewithcurrys hashtag to see more photos and tweets from the event.
We'd like to thank all our bloggers for coming along and making it such a fantastic event. We'd also like to thank The Old School Club for being such great hosts.
And if you're on the hunt for a new washing machine or washer dryer check out Curry's wide range of appliances.
