PlayStation Network (PSN) users in the UK will have full access to the online service by the end of this week, Sony has announced.
The firm said its engineers will restore the PSN to full functionality across the US and Europe by the weekend.
The network was taken offline after a major data breach last month as hackers stole the personal and credit card information of millions of users.
Sony’s latest announcement means players in the UK will again be able to make purchases on the PlayStation Store, as well as buy in-game items.
According to the company, the service will restart with “considerable security enhancements to the network infrastructure, as well as conducted testing of the payment process and commerce functions”.
PSN users in parts of Asia, including Japan, will continue to face restricted access to services. Sony said it will announce further details about network functionality in these regions “as they become available”.
