Wondering exactly what will be revealed in Tuesday´s Xbox Reveal? An official says the console will be the main focus

20 May 2013

Gamers are counting down the hours and minutes 'til Tuesday's Xbox Reveal and an official at the company has whetted appetites by saying it will be all about the console and its capabilities.

Aaron Greenberg, chief of staff for Microsoft's Interactive Entertainment Business, said fans could expect "lots of surprises" from tomorrow's event in Redmond, Washington, US.

Tuesday's event - branded Xbox: A New Generation Revealed - is the first of two, with another press show set to take place on June 10, the day before the E3 gaming expo gets under way in LA.

Greenberg said: "So we're going to start on the 21st. And really that's about revealing the next Xbox platform, really our vision for the future of games, the future of entertainment."

Xbox: A New Generation Revealed - all about the hardware

Whether it's called Durango, Xbox 720, or just plain old Xbox, the next-gen console has sent the internet into a whirl of hype and speculation in recent weeks.

But now joypad warriors the world over are set to find out just what the next-gen console can do, with Greenberg revealing its capabilities will be showcased during a Microsoft campus event taking us "behind the scenes a little bit".

Holding an individual event instead of launching the console at this summer's E3 expo will allow Microsoft to go much deeper in detailing what the new Xbox can do and how it will do it.

Greenberg said gamers would get "a great inside look at really making the new platform and the team that's brought it to life".

He added: "I mean it's really about the team, the people here. That's why we're inviting people to campus. We're going to bring them behind the scenes a little bit.

"We've never done this before, so it's really exciting to be able to do that."

Call of Duty to make an appearance

A second event at E3 in June will act as a showcase for the majority of new games. However we can expect a first-glimpse at the new Call of Duty: Ghosts title on Tuesday.

Greenberg said: "I know everyone knows the Infinity Ward team is hard at work on world premiering the next Call of Duty: Ghosts, so we're going to see what that looks like for the first time."

E3 - all about the games

While the May 21 event will be all about the hardware, the show scheduled for June in LA will cast the spotlight on the games.

Tech-heads already licking their lips over the prospect of E3 now have "tons of exclusives" and "world premieres" to help get them into an even greater gaming lather.

Greenberg said: "At E3, I mean, if you're a gamer, it's going to be tons of exclusives, world premieres and obviously even beyond that we have a lot to share between then and this holiday."

Greenberg also dropped a hint the console could be released before Christmas.
