If you're counting down the days until Grand Theft Auto V is released in September you'll be keen for any scraps of info about the next instalment.

Grand Theft Auto V

Rockstar Games feels your pain, and has released a clutch of new screenshots to whet your appetite and give you a bit more of a feel for the world of Los Santos.

The 10 screenshots from in-engine gaming footage give gamers a glimpse at the world of Grand Theft Auto V - and from what we've seen it looks colourful, dramatic, diverse and pretty damn hot.

The images were shown off by Rockstar in a press release titled "Sunsets, Seas, Skies and So On".

The Grand Theft Auto series has developed legendary cult status among the gaming fraternity since the first instalment was launched many years ago - and the forthcoming take looks like it'll keep the legend going.

The screenshots show characters riding motorbikes, jumping from planes and diving beneath the sea in scuba gear, exploring underwater caves, as well as giving us a glimpse at some of the motors and weapons involved.

But as well as action shots you also get to see some sumptuous landscapes - dramatic mountains, turbulent oceans.

The images suggest the dramatic landscapes will be accompanied by dramatic weather events too, with the screenshots showing lightning-filled skies.

Grand Theft Auto V is set to be released for PS3 and Xbox 360 on September 17.
