2019 is set to be a big year for TV tech, and Sony have kicked things off by introducing a stunning new model – the Bravia XG95. With bigger and bigger TV screens hitting the stores, it’s important that the picture quality doesn’t take a hit, but this TV really does make you feel like you’re in the moment.

What makes the quality so great?

Inside the XG95 is an extremely powerful processor – the X1 Ultimate – which uses lots of different technologies to bring the picture to life. Here’s a little jargon buster:

  • Object-based Super Resolution – this detects and processes individual objects in the picture to give amazing detail.
  • Object-based HDR remaster – individual colours are analysed, and the contrast is adjusted for greater depth and more realistic hues onscreen.
  • Super Bit Mapping™ 4K HDR – reveals all the tones and shades of light to create a smooth, natural picture.
  • Dual database processing – individual images are analysed and cross-referenced against two huge databases, enabling accurate upscaling, reduced noise and sharper, more realistic images.
  • Full-array LED with local dimming – delivers light from multiple LEDs from separate zones so you get better contrast with brighter peaks and deeper blacks.

On top of this, it has a top-of-the-range backlight which puts out six times the contrast of normal Sony LED TVs without local dimming. The lightest whites and the darkest blacks can all be seen with beautiful detail and accuracy.

See it all from any angle

When you’ve got everyone together to watch your favourite blockbuster, the X-Wide Angle panel makes sure everyone gets the best view. It makes sure that the colours stay true from wherever you’re watching, so it can now be just as satisfying from the sides as it is front and centre (only available on 75”).

It sounds as good as it looks

This TV emits sound from the actual screen itself, so you can immerse yourself in the movie by precisely matching the picture with the audio. It’s got four front-facing speakers, placed at the top and bottom of the TV, and two sound positioning tweeters in the back, so it simulates sound from the centre of the screen.

The Android operating system has seen some upgrades too. It’s faster, smarter and offers a much smoother way of choosing what to watch. The interface has been simplified so you can easily find all your favourite apps, and the rows of content below it are completely customisable, so you can set it all up to look the way you want.

Smarter TV with Google

Voice assistants have become a part of everyday life, so the XG95 comes with the Android TV platform and Google Assistant built-in. All you have to do is ask, and you can quickly access your favourite entertainment, get answers to questions or control other devices around the house.

With the handy smart remote, you can use your voice to change the channel, adjust the volume or catch up on the latest episode of that must-see box set.

Speaking of box sets, Netflix are releasing more and more original content, so the XG95 has Netflix Calibrated Mode to let you enjoy the creator’s vision just as it was intended. It reproduces the same quality on your TV as you would get in the studio, so you’ll never miss a moment of the newest nail-biter.

X-Motion Clarity is a feature that keeps the picture smooth and clear, even with the fastest moving images. Blur is reduced and there’s no loss in brightness; it’s perfect for watching high-octane sports and movies.

All of these features work together to bring pictures to life, right in your living room. Having a big screen doesn’t mean you need to sacrifice quality, with picture or sound, and Sony proves it with the XG95 range.
